Charym – the Bhutanese word for beauty – is a yoga center founded by Alexandra Champalimaud, head of the eponymous design firm. Charym’s Center Studio is an oasis of tranquility, located in the heart of West Street Yard in Litchfield, an award winning adaptive reuse of a 19th century lumberyard designed by Champalimaud. Repeatedly voted Best Yoga Studio in Connecticut, Charym has become a well-loved part of the local community and a sought-after weekend retreat for busy New Yorkers.

Champalimaud carefully considered the center’s design intent. “Serenity is woven into the fabric of Charym,” she explains. “Like an Asian temple, the experience is designed to turn you inward as soon as you approach the building. Our teachers are well-trained, leading us on an inward journey toward awakening, and because community itself is our greatest strength, we take refuge in one another.”
