Real estate co-developers Time Equities (TEI), JK Equities (JKE) and Oak Capitals (Oak), today announced the official launch of sales for 1000M, the ultra-luxury condominium development in Chicago. Located at 1000 South Michigan, along Chicago’s iconic Cultural Mile, the curving, cantilevering, 832-foot-tall glass tower will make a dramatic impact on Chicago’s world-famous skyline as one of its tallest towers. With the launch, comes the opening of the immersive and technologically-advanced, 8,000-square-foot sales gallery, located at 1006 South Michigan, with sales and marketing being handled by leading Chicago brokerage, @properties.
Designed by luminary German architect and long-time Chicago resident, Helmut Jahn, 1000M will soar at 74 stories tall, making it the tallest building of Jahn’s career. Drawing inspiration from the intersection of city and nature, Jahn’s design brilliantly optimizes views of Lake Michigan and surrounding vistas throughout the tower from homes to amenity spaces.1000M gradually widens at the northeast and southwest corners, allowing its floor plate to transition from an efficient rectangle at the base to an expansive parallelogram at the top, giving even the southwestern units prime views of Lake Michigan and Grant Park. Additionally, floor-to-ceiling glass panels, large operable windows and high ceilings will flood homes with natural light.
1000M’s interior designer and interior architect, Kara Mann, designed the interior layouts and finish selections for all of the 323 lavish homes, as well as nearly 40,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenity spaces. Bringing her sophisticated edge to her first ground-up condominium tower, Mann drew inspiration from her surroundings, optimizing views and square footage while also making spaces modern and inspiring.
“We are very excited to finally introduce 1000M to Chicago with the opening of the remarkable sales gallery,” said Francis Greenburger, Chairman of TEI. “The team behind this project shares a vision of beauty and is committed to exposing that vision inside and out. Helmut and Kara have truly created an uncompromising dedication to the art of living with 1000M, and it is redefining luxury and sophisticated living in this lake front location, where city and nature meet.”
Homes at 1000M will range from efficient 926-square-foot, one-bedroom residences to ultra-luxurious, 5,491-square-foot penthouses. Combining Mann’s refined touch with ultra-luxury brands such as Wolf and Sub-Zero, Mann has crafted three custom color palettes for residents to personalize their homes. Each home will feature natural wood floors as well as a mix of natural and man-made stone options in the kitchens and bathrooms. Kitchens will feature custom cabinetry, Sub-Zero refrigerators and Wolf ranges, and the master bathrooms will contain over-sized showers and ‘wet rooms’ furnished with large soaking tubs. Upper floor homes will feature extra-large in-set balconies, which function as outdoor rooms.
“1000M will not only be making an impact on Chicago’s skyline, but also on the luxury market, presenting an unrivaled product,” said Jerry Karlik, President of JK Equities. “It will be a special addition to the Downtown area and set a new standard of quality through its finishes, amenities, and pure execution.”
Mann and Jahn’s shared vision of the grand, two-story Michigan Avenue lobby, sets the tone for the 1000M experience and will welcome residents with elegant materials such as Venetian textured walls, an inviting social lounge, and exquisite art installations. The private covered entrance off Wabash Avenue leads cars through the expansive Jahn-designed Port-cochère and into the 400-car garage. For added ease and convenience, high-speed garage and lobby elevators swiftly connect residents to their homes. Additional features on the ground floor consist of a 24-hour lobby attendant, package room and storage, personal car and driver service, and a resident-only dog park and dog spa with washing and drying stations.
1000M will offer an extensive, curated amenity package, with nearly 30,000 square feet on the 11th floor and 10,000 square feet on the 72nd floor, designed by Mann, which will encourage a strong sense of community through curated programming for residents. The 11th floor amenity offerings are focused around health and wellness, relaxation, and social and cultural activities. The building will feature a full-service concierge to help residents arrange for services and plan events. The state-of-the-art fitness center is equipped with separate strength training, cardio, and yoga/barre rooms, as well as men’s and women’s lockers, and a beauty bar with a hair blowout station. The spa at 1000M exhibits the continued focus on wellness for its residents; offering a sauna, steam room, salt room featuring walls adorned with Himalayan salt, spa therapy room, heated lounge, ice therapy, hot and cold plunge pools, and a virtual meditation lounge. Additionally, located on the 11th floor, is the library lounge with fireplaces and a terrace; conservatory for musical performances and art exhibitions; theater with cinema-style seating, golf simulator; billiards lounge and game room; children’s room; sound studio/teen room for music practice and production; chef’s catering kitchen; and co-working space and conference room.
“1000M is delivering an unmatched level of luxury, amenities, service, and design to the Chicago market,” said Mike Golden, co-founder of @properties. “We are confident that luxury home buyers will be attracted to the world-class offerings of 1000M and the luxury of having everything they need, at their fingertips, in this thriving neighborhood.”
Also on the 11th floor is outdoor space with elevated formal gardens, trees and walking paths that feature hammocks and outdoor seating. Residents can enjoy a barbecue at one of the outdoor grills with dining tables or relax at the year-round fire pits. During the summer months, residents will be able to enjoy the sun deck and a 52-foot swimming pool with lap lanes and lounging steps, as well as private cabanas.
When residents want to get a view from the top, the 72nd floor winter garden features year-round plants, green walls, luxurious seating arrangements and 19-foot floor-to-ceiling glass walls offering 180°views of Lake Michigan, Chicago’s skyline and Grant Park without ever stepping outside. All residents will also have access to Club 1000—a full-service bar and lounge offering cocktails, live music and events, a wine tasting room with private wine storage, a private dining room, and the sky terrace with telescopes for celestial viewing and custom, sculptured benches overlooking the lake.
Centrally located along Chicago’s Cultural Mile and the Historic Michigan Boulevard District, 1000M is within walking distance of countless neighborhood amenities – including Grant Park, Maggie Daley Park and Millennium Park, the lakefront, restaurants, transportation, schools and of course world class cultural institutions such as the Art Institute, Field Museum and Soldier Field. Today, South Michigan Avenue, formally referred to as the Historic Michigan Boulevard District, defines the western edge of Grant Park and represents one of the most distinguished images of Downtown Chicago.
