Traditional Home is partnering with HGTV star Donna Moss to benefit selected Texas chapters of the Alzheimer’s Association. Half of the proceeds from the Opening Night Designer Gala and Showhouse Tour tickets will go to the North Central Texas Chapter and the Houston Chapter so hard hit by Hurricane Harvey.
“This partnership will provide an exceedingly generous level of financial support and public awareness for our mission,” said Theresa Hocker, executive director, Alzheimer’s Association – North Central Texas Chapter. “These funds will help pay for research and advocacy efforts on the state and national level. Also, they will help ensure the continued local availability of an array of information, education, support programs, and services provided by the Alzheimer’s Association.”
According to Richard Elbein, chief executive officer of the Houston and Southeast Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, the support for Houston-area Alzheimer’s patients and their families is critical. “Many in Houston are struggling with Alzheimer’s every day, now they are also dealing with the impact of Hurricane Harvey. The Alzheimer’s Association remains relentless in our care and support of affected individuals and their families, as well as the search for treatments and eventually a cure.”
The Opening Gala will feature a “Purple” Carpet – the signature color for the Alzheimer’s Association – hosted by Brandi Redmond and Stephanie Hollman from the Bravo show Real Housewives of Dallas, who are both generously donating their time to the event and the cause to raise awareness and #ENDALZ.
The Dallas Decorators Showhouse, constructed from the ground up by Paul Moss’ Marina Bay Development Corp., was architected by Grand Home Designs. The project brought together some of the biggest names in the interior design industry to realize their interpretations of classic Texas style.
“My dad lives in Houston and was rescued from the storm after spending six hours in his attic,” said Paul Moss. “Our family was relieved after my daughter saw him in a boat on the local Dallas news! It was only three months ago that my mom passed away from Alzheimer’s disease, so we are happy that what we have built in Southlake, Texas can extend a helping hand to patients and families that were already suffering and now face additional challenges caused by Hurricane Harvey.”
