The Most Famous Steel Buildings in the World

There are a number of reasons why construction companies and architects choose to use steel when constructing a new building. The top reason will usually be for durability, steel is a material that other materials struggle to compete with when it comes to durability and strength. Due to this, it is a popular choice for buildings that will be used for high volumes of people traffic for example, football stadia and shopping centers. If you think that a steel building can’t be a thing of beauty though, you are wrong. The best part about steel is it can offer strength and beauty at the same time.

A far cry from the boring, standard stadiums that you will see in most of the football games you see on TV. Built for the Olympics in 2008, the beauty of the stadium is enhanced by the surrounding water. The unique shape has led to it being nicknamed The Bird’s Nest. You can probably understand why they came up with that name without any further explanation.

burj-khalifaBurj Khalifa | The tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai stands at over 2716ft and has 160 stories. With the highest outdoor observation deck in the world, if you are lucky enough to pay a visit to this building you can pretty much say you have been on top of the world.

brs_0330The Empire State Building | This popular New York landmark has 102 stories and sits in the center of the most famous city in the world. You can go on a tour to the top and experience amazing views across the city.

This iconic building was one the tallest building in the world and attracts millions of visitors every year. It is estimated that over 250 million people have visited it since it was first built. Pictures of the tower at night-time show it radiantly shining, with light bulbs that sparkle on the hour, every hour.

So, as you can see, steel buildings are very popular and not only do they provide immense strength, they can be designed to look very beautiful and therefore steel has been a popular choice for some of the greatest buildings in the world.
