Flatbush Avenue Continues Resurgence in Historical District

The resurgence of the historic Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn area – known for centuries as the site of the first battle of the Revolutionary War in 1776 — is underway, with iconic venues such as Kings Theatre, which recently reopened its doors in 2015, and a seven-story hotel opening at 1024-1030 Flatbush Avenue. A fast real estate comeback is evident, validated by Joshua Garay of Garay Real Estate, who represented both buyer and seller in a recent transaction of 1001 Flatbush Avenue, a four-story mixed use building built in 1930 that will undergo extensive renovation.

“Flatbush Avenue is historic in many ways, and highly attractive for investors,” says Garay, noting that the property he recently brokered needed extensive renovation but represented a great investment value. “There is a 24-hour fitness center, a Staples office store and other high-profile commercial brands in the immediate community.”

Garay points out that during the 1920’s, Flatbush Avenue, akin to Broadway of its day, became the major thoroughfare leading toward Manhattan and winding all the way through the roads of Brooklyn.

“With all the hype on areas such as Bedford Stuyvesant, Bushwick and others, Flatbush is not too far behind,” he says.
