DADDY O HOTEL
Retro Chic
Brant Beach, NJ
Ocean County
Built 2006
Approx. 99 miles from NYC

Daddy O offers its guests as hip of an experience as its name suggests. Inside the 22-room boutique hotel, guests will feel like stars when walking through streamlined hallways done in “runway” style that lead to their rooms, which were designed with two things in mind: style and comfort. Neither stuffy nor cold, daddy O proves very retro chic. This can be seen in the ivory-colored leather furniture, contemporary wall sconces that offer incandescent and halogen light options, shutters and murals of beach goers. In addition to flat-screen TVs and wireless Internet, the rooms offer Serta Pillow Top ultraplush mattresses, 1,000 thread count cotton linens, and rain shower heads in marble- and natural wood-decorated bathrooms. Open from April to October, daddy O offers the perfect beach getaway. A short walk from the hotel leads guests right to the water’s edge; beach badges, as well as towels and chairs, are provided by the hotel. For dinner, daddy O Restaurant, which is located on site and offers a modern take on classic American cuisine, is a must.

The daddy O Hotel located on Long Beach Island was opened in 2006, and it was the first hotel established under this name. In 2010, the second daddy O was founded in Miami, FL.

BUNGALOW HOTEL
Funky Vibe
Long Branch, NJ
Monmouth County
Built 2009
Approx. 56 miles from NYC

Bungalow Hotel introduced itself in 2009 in Pier Village as an authentic boutique hotel with 24 rooms. If anything’s for certain, it’s that this hotel provides its guests with a vibrant atmosphere, from its decor to its amenities. In the lobby, guests will find an assortment of games available to them (including a classic pool table), wood-carved furniture, disco balls, a large portrait of Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by chic leather furniture, and a bar that offers cocktails and light snacks. The captivating and edgy decor transfers into the guestrooms, which have open floor plans; in the rooms are twig-like driftwood in large glass vases, sleek black chairs seated around a glass dining table, country and state flags, and chalkboards. Five types of rooms are available: Aloha, Hang Loose, Li’l Pipeline, Pipeline and Kahuna. Ranging from 465 sq. ft. to 1,170 sq. ft., these rooms include king beds, iPod docking systems, kitchenettes, cafe tables, expansive window walls, fireplaces, 100% down comforters and pillows, and rain shower heads.

Bungalow Hotel’s decor was chosen by a husband and wife duo, Courtney and Robert Novogratz of Sixx Design, and was featured on Bravo’s “Design by 9.”

THE VIRGINIA HOTEL
Victorian Sophistication
Cape May, NJ
Cape May County
Built 1875
Aprox. 158 miles from NYC

This 24-room boutique hotel, with a front wrap-around porch, sits on an idyllic tree-lined street and provides Cape May visitors with a classy beach hotel experience. In the lobby, a warm fireplace and intimate lighting welcome guests, who will find that the hotel’s decor balances modern and classic tastes, resulting in a contemporary take on seaside sophistication. This theme continues into the airy guestrooms that are full of light. Victorian accents and a custom-designed floral wall paper are combined with nautical-inspired artwork, while bright pops of color find themselves on pillows and lampshades amid the rooms’ effeminate, soft color palette. All hotel rooms also come with Belgian cotton sheets with Italian duvets, a sitting area, Bvlgari bath amenities and bathrobes, an in-room mini bar and an iPod docking system. The Virginia Hotel treats its guests with an on-site gourmet restaurant, The Ebbitt Room, as well as private beach cabanas and complimentary electric car charging.

The Virginia Hotel fits perfectly in the heart of Cape May’s historic district: Before this building was impeccably restored into an intimate luxury boutique hotel, it was an 1875 historical landmark.

Recently opened in 2013, this luxury boutique hotel offers 37 rooms and suites.
