Cabinetmaker Alex Banner and his wife are the artisans behind custom millwork/furniture company Wishbone Woodworking, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Specializing in cabinetry and custom furniture, Wishbone Woodworking has succeeded in bringing luxury to established homes through the fine grains of wood.
As can be seen in their online portfolio, the company recently collaborated on a private residence on Riverside Boulevard in New York City.
The first impression of the space is made by the luxurious reclaimed flooring in the entryway. The strong visual lines guide one towards the updated kitchen: The center island and banquette table are also made with reclaimed lumber, and new torched cabinetry provides an interesting visual and textural contrast to the otherwise sleek surfaces in this room.
Wishbone’s work can be found enhancing the bedrooms, gracing them with three separate custom beds. Custom cabinetry and shelving in the bedrooms visually ties each space together while providing much-needed storage space.
The natural wood tones of the concealed media center continues to drive home the juxtaposition of organic materials against modern technology and design.
The varieties of wood used in this project not only provide a rich visual palette of natural tones, but also offers a textural contrast that creates a tactile experience.
Other recent projects include a Soho coffee shop and custom furniture lines, such as the Talisman Collection.
